New Radiohead Album – With A Twist
Probably my favorite band in the world is Radiohead even if my wife refers to it as “Complaint-Rock”. They don’t put out albums often but when they do they are usually pretty awesome works of art.
So, thats not exactly what I wanted to tell you abought though. See they have a new album coming out on October 10th called In Rainbows. The cool thing is that they are letting you pre-order it on their website (the download version) and get this – YOU NAME THE PRICE!
WooHoo! Fuck the RIAA!
AND it’s DRM free! That should really piss them off good.
Now I won’t go on and on about the record industry and how it’s all a bunch of hoo-ha (just read some of my other posts), but if you got some spare change – go buy a copy. If for no other reason than to support this business model and send a clear message to the music labels.
I’ve heard about this – it is a pretty creative way to battle music piracy going around. I would think the general public would prefer to download the original, full quality mp3s for a few pennies (at least they get paid then) than from some guys hard drive in China. Also… you have to imagine some fans are going to pay more just because they respect the artists. I wonder what the highest price they will get will be?
Depends – I will also get the “Hard Copy” box set also and have to pay full price. However, I will most likely also pay for the downloads just to get them early.
This is a very cool idea.
I just pre-ordered my downloads. Put in $5.00 which is probably 5X what I’d pay do download it legally on that “Russian” site. I still plan on buying the box set, so this is just for the privledge of me being able to listen to it before I get the hard copy.
